Why I always buy new Tapes

Why? In preparation for a situation like this.

This very moment I am recapturing the ReElect The Dead footage that was corrupted during the catastrophic hard drive failure last summer, made possible because I saved the original tapes. This was right around when I started purchasing blank tapes rather than reusing them once I had imported them to the computer, and it paid off.

Editing is going well, and I just finished a pretty darn cool special effects composite last night, or rather, this morning. Heh. I went to bed around 3:30 AM or so.

Expect a post sometime next week concerning the special effects shot!

ReElect the Dead

Posted in Goodies with tags , , , , , on January 27, 2011 by zlwilly

The beginning of Summer of 2010 saw some set backs when the hard drives that the RETD data was stored in lost its index file. Basically, it couldn’t remember where it had stored the files. They were there, it had just misplaced the inventory sheet.

The end of summer saw a fix to that, and now we’re back on track. And for your enjoyment, here’s a visual effects test involving a gunshot, as well as one of my favorite lines from the film, due to the fact that it was completely ad libbed, and kept for its brilliance. Make sure to watch it in 720p.

Quick Update

Posted in General Information with tags , on April 14, 2010 by zlwilly

I’m working on some more ReElect the Dead in my downtime between art classes at the moment. It’s going well, but slow. Before too long I should have the whole rough cut finished, and then Brian and I will have to have a screening to talk about any changes, the foley effects, and the visual effects. After that there’s just music to worry about, and a release will be in order. ;)

Here’s an older zombie video test, made shortly after ReElect The Dead was first conceived. Hopefully I’ll be able to crank out at least another ten scenes or so over spring break.

Here are some of my favorite stills from the first four scenes of the film.

Time to get back to my school work. Hopefully I’ll be able to finish the rough cuts of another scene or two tonight.

Up and Coming Film

Posted in General Information with tags , , , , , , , on February 3, 2010 by zlwilly

Long time, no post. I know, It’s been killing me, and I’ve had some others commenting on it too. So, in lieu of a finished project, here’s a bit of extra/blooper video to act as a teaser for the final film.

For any of those interested, the filming session went well. Filming everything on a single Saturday meant an early morning and tons of work, as well as multiple tapes and batteries, but we finished. We started around 8:00 AM and finished around 7:00PM (EST). Total budget for the film had to come in under 100 dollars. We also have tons of goof ups, outtakes, and footage of the characters screwing around as well.

If you read the previous post, then you realize our completion date was… overeager, would be one word for it. I’m now hoping for a completion date of Summer 2010.

As it is, scenes 1-4 have made the rough cut, and the others should soon follow. After that the music choices will be made and produced, as well as the special effects.

‘ReElect the Dead’ Official Announcement!

Messrs Lynch and Williamson wish to formally announce ‘ReElect the Dead’, the newest independent film project from Wonderland Productions!.

The film is a political satire / zombie infestation-comedy, and was conceived late one zombie-film filled evening by Brian Lynch, Nathan Lutz, and Lace Williamson. Plot development and scripts were written by Brian Lynch. Filming, SFX, and post production by Lace Williamson, with music by the band Escape from Arkham.

The film is being loosely planned to run for half an hour, all of the filming for which will be done August 30th, 2009. The post production (special effects, compositing, editing, and dubbing) will be done over the course of the following month and a half, with a hopeful completion date of just before Halloween, 2009.

On a more personal note, we are doing this 90% for fun and 10% for experience. We hope you enjoy watching the progress of the project and the film as much as we enjoy working on it. Don’t worry, there will be plenty of updates as things finally get rolling.
